PERFORM explores innovative science education methods based on performing arts through engaging secondary school students, their teachers and early career researchers in a participatory educational process conducted in twelve selected secondary schools in Barcelona (Spain), Bristol and Manchester (UK) and Paris (France). The effectiveness of these methods and the participatory educational process in boosting students’ engagement in STEM are systematically assessed. Specifically, the project analyses if the developed methods promote changes in the way students engage in social and civic competences, sense of initiative and learning to learn, as well as if these methods address Responsible Research and Innovation values.
During such participatory educational process, the project also identifies and addresses the educational and communication skills required by secondary school teachers and researchers to develop performance-based science education methods with students in the resulting training toolkits.
In a final stage of the project, such science education methods will be scaled-out to informal learning and teaching environments.
