PERFORM Conference 2018 Announced

The PERFORM project conference 2018 was announced on the 8th of November during the World Science Forum in Jordan and it will take place on the 14th and 15th of June 2018 in Paris at UNESCO.

The Project Coordinator Isabel Ruiz-Mallén and the UNESCO expert Casimiro Vizzini jointly launched the event during which the results of the research project will be presented focusing on how to innovate the approach to STEM Education through performing arts.

The conference will allow participants to dive into the project results trough shows, round tables and workshops that explores how to enhance the human-centred approach to science education using stand-up comedy, clowning and science busking whilst embedding the Responsible Research and Innovation values.

The Conference launch was held during the session organized by UNESCO as part of the World Science Forum 2017 programme and hosted representatives from the PERFORM consortium as well as prominent personalities of Institutions that are developing strong efforts to innovate STEM Education worldwide.

 

The session was convened by Casimiro Vizzini who is an Expert in the division of Science Policy and Capacity-Building at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Dr. Vizzini presented the Role of UNESCO in the PERFORM project and facilitated the dialogue with the panel members:

Isabel Ruiz-Mallén – Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow, senior researcher at the IN3-Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and associated researcher at the ICTA-Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

Marga Gual Soler – Senior Project Director in the Center for Science Diplomacy at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Yousef Al Abdallat – PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Kyoto University, Japan, currently manager and director of the Faculty for Factory National Program at the University of Jordan.

Rachel Mason – Associate Director at Science Made Simple – an award-winning science communication company based in the UK.

Stanislav Dovguiy – President of the Junior Academy of Science of Ukraine. Former Minister of Communication, Stanislav Dovguiy who intensively acted to develop science education in Ukraine.
